Name Survey (Part 2)

Next in my survey, I asked about name meanings. Most of my fellow formspringers did not seem to care about them, and this shocked me, as most of them know the meaning of their own name. One of the participants for this survey thinks that personal meanings are more important. When asked "Would you use a name to honor someone even if you hated that name?", Floracatherine replied "I think so" I also asked that if it is better when a full name combo meaning flows like a sentence, and I thought there would be a majority opinion. In fact, everybody had different views. Some disliked it, and some found it cute. When the question "What do you think is the name with the best meaning?" I got an interesting response from Carhilly. She said, "the best meaning..well its personal to each person so it really depends who you ask..and since you're asking me I'd say something about love or wisdom or truth...so basically virtue" To be quite honest, this made me feel a little stupid about asking this question. Ha ha. She is very right in my opinion. What do you think? What do you think about name meanings in general?

My Name Survey

Those of you on formspring know I am doing a baby name survey (BNS) and I have asked about 10 questions based on sibling sets. From the info I have gathered, it seems that...

The Baby Name community on Formspring dislike matching names (Though most like themed ones), yet do not like completley different names. They would rather use the most popular names (Isabella and Jacob) Than the names ranked 1000 (Mireya and Mustafa) which is fair enough. Also, when asked questions which name they would add to the sibset, most chose the name that was at a similar popularity ranking to the other names. When I asked 3 questions about the sibset Jack, Imogen and Lois there were mixed responses. A few said they did not like the name Lois, one said it didnt fit. "Mismatched, IMO." quoted The Kelp.
